Is There a Magic Bullet?

I was just chatting with some friends the other day about how annoyed I am by people who jump on the bandwagon everytime some “magic bullet” fruit/grain/berry comes around.

There’s blueberries, acai, goji berries, flax…what’s next?

Yes these things are healthy, no one is doubting that, but eating one thing excessively is not going to make you immortal!

Check out this article in the Globe and Mail which ironically discusses this exact subject:

What do you think about there being a super food or magic bullet?

Feeling Fit or Fat?

After indulging in one or more Thanksgiving dinners over the weekend, you may be feeling less than fit.

Did you indulge in more than just a normal serving of buttery mashed pototates, gravy, and stuffing? What about crusty pumpkin pie or other baked goods?

It’s terrific to enjoy good foods and it’s even better to enjoy the flavours of the season, but if you’re feeling heavy and lethargic after your thanksgiving feast, you may have enjoyed it a little too much.

Extra food, be it carbs, fat or protein, will be stored in you body as fat. If you eat more than your body needs, it’s more than happy to hang on to it for the next time you do a serious bout of exercise.

Not planning a marathon any time soon?

Next time you’re faced with a bevy of food options, do enjoy, but take only a tablespoon of each thing and enjoy without going overboard.

Your body will thank you for it later.
